Wayne Frederick Wedepohl, age 71, of Sheboygan Falls, WI, passed away Thursday (November 28,
2019) at Aurora St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee.
He was born on August 28, 1948 in Sheboygan, WI, a son of the late Earl and Ardelle (Jensen) Wedepohl.
Wayne attended Starlight Elementary School and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School.
Following high school he attended U.W. River Falls, graduating with a degree in Agriculture. While in
college, Wayne was a founding member of Delta Theda Sigma fraternity at UW River Falls.
On July 2, 1988 he married Carol Winter at St. Luke Lutheran Church in Sheboygan Falls, where Wayne
was a lifelong member and a very active member of the congregation. He served many years on the
Church Council, was part of the building committee and active in many other committees. Most
recently being part of the Greater Milwaukee Synod Meru Diocese Partnership Committee and helping
bring an African Delegation here.
Wayne began farming with his father and grandfather on their Wedepohl Chicken Hatchery Farm. By
1988 the farm focused on dairy and the name was changed to Wedepohl Dairy Farm. In 2001, he went
into partnership with two others and became part owner of Highland Crossing Dairy. In 2010, came a
new partnership and he was now part owner in Majestic Crossing Dairy.
In addition to farming, he was also very involved in many things. He was involved with FFA and was a
FFA Alumni charter member. He also coached dairy products teams at 3 different schools in 2 different
states, leading the Plymouth team to nationals. He also served on the Lakeshore Farm Management
Board, the Land O Lakes Board, DFA Board, and was a Riverside 4-H Dairy Leader.
Wayne was a very active and adventurous man who loved to travel who was able to see: Australia, New
Zealand, Africa, South America, England, Paris, Canada, Mexico, and many other places. He was a
licensed pilot who had the courage to go parachuting out of a plane, scuba diving, riding motorcycles,
target shooting, and he loved to have a good time with his family and friends. He was also a licensed
pyrotechnic and was involved with the 4 th of July fireworks for several years.
Survivors include his wife: Carol; Two sisters: Kaye (James) Jaeger and Sandra (Keith) Witter; Nephews
and nieces: Scott (Jennifer) Jaeger, Eric Witter, David (Heide) Witter, Rebecca (Spencer) Wicklund, and
Laura Witter; Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Judith Doherty, Norman (Dona) Winter, Daryl (Jeff Hayes)
Winter, Sheri (Mark) Bohnhoff, Renee McKellips; and Mother-in-law: Kay Winter.
He is also survived by many other cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by: His parents; Father-in-law: Allan Winter; Two brothers-in-law: Richard
Doherty and Richard McKellips; and Nephew: Shawn Winter.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday (December 7, 2019) at 1:00 P.M. at St. Luke Lutheran Church in
Sheboygan Falls. Pastor Elizabeth Jaeger, Pastor of the Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Parish
Cemetery.
Visitation will take place at CHURCH on Saturday (Dec. 7) from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Wayne’s name.
