MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – The Wisconsin Badgers had little trouble beating Central Michigan on Saturday with a 61-0 final score.
It was the 24th straight season that the Badgers won their home opener and are now 33-2 against teams from the Mid-American Conference.
Against Central Michigan’s overmatched defense, Wisconsin piled up 599 yards of total offense and the 44 points in the first half are the most in a half since they scored 45 against Indiana in an 83-20 win back in 2010.
Running back Jonathan Taylor ran for three touchdowns and also hauled in a touchdown catch. He finished with 102 yards rushing on 19 carries.
Wide receiver Quintez Cephus caught 6 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, the Badgers have not allowed a point since the 2018 Pinstripe Bowl, a span covering 11 quarters.. The defense has been stingy this season, allowing just 215 total yards and 41 yards rushing in two games.
The Badgers have a bye next week, then will host Michigan on September 21st.
