Janet L. Lau, age 94, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2019, at the
Waterford in Plymouth, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 6, 1924 in the Town of Scott, WI, a daughter of the late
Herbert and Frieda (Lillge) Hartmann.
Janet attended Random Lake and West Bend schools.
On December 20, 1941, she married Norman F. Lau at St. John Lutheran Church in West
Bend. The couple resided in the Town of Lyndon after their marriage and in 1967 moved
to Cascade. Norman preceded her in death on December 18, 1978.
Janet worked for a short time at Cleveland Container in Plymouth and then was employed
at the Kohler Company for 28 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Quarter
Century Club at Kohler.
She was a former member of Salem United Church of Christ in Plymouth, and she was
also a member of the Plymouth Women’s Society.
Janet’s love of life revolved around her dear family and friends. She enjoyed traveling
and playing cards, and belonged to many card clubs. Janet also had a great love for
music and dancing. She had the ability to play any song she knew by ear on the piano or
organ.
Survivors include: Sons: Warren (Mary) Lau and Mark (Bonnie) Lau; Daughter: Sharon
(Pete) Ninnemann; Grandchildren: Eric (Cindy) Lau, Gregg Lau, Jill (Bill) Backlich,
Michelle (Steve) Hoyt, Janel (Greg) Retzlaff, Michael Ninnemann, Kari (Joel) Pagel,
Jenny (Wayne) Floria, and Kristi Floria; and Great-grandchildren: Logan Lau, Austin
(Mariah) Lau, Kayley Wontor, Lindsay Horsman, Marissa Horsman, Kaitlyn Retzlaff,
Emery Pagel, Everett Pagel, Eila Pagel, Paul Hoyt, Maddie Hoyt, and Liam Backlich.
She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Janet was preceded in death by: Her husband, parents, father and mother-in-law, sister,
two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
Following Janet’s wishes, cremation has taken place and Memorial Services will be held
on Sunday (September 8, 2019) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Visitation
will take place from 1:00-2:00 P.M. with a prayer service to follow at 2:00 P.M. Pastor
Dale Miller of Salem Plankroad UCC will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested in Janet’s name to Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice.
The Suchon Funeral Home and Cremation Services of Plymouth is serving her family.
