Jane L. “Susie” Weygandt, 91, of Sheboygan Falls, died peacefully on Sunday, December 9, 2018, while
residing at Morningside Health Center in Sheboygan.
Jane was born June 19, 1927, in Long Beach, California, the daughter of George and Florence (Peck)
Lyon. Due to her father’s role as a US Naval Captain, Jane enjoyed an adventurous childhood: at times
living in China, the Philippines, and throughout the US. She and her sister, Martha, had no problems
ordering daily lemonade as the family was sailing across the Pacific Ocean… until the bill came. Jane
attended Beloit College and went on to receive her Master’s degree in nursing from the Frances Payne
Bolton School of Nursing in Cleveland, Ohio. On July 11, 1953, she married Dr. James Weygandt in
Wauwatosa, WI. Following 63 years of marriage, James preceded her in death on October 18, 2016.
Jane was a registered nurse and clinical coordinator at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center for many
years. She also taught nursing at Lakeshore Technical College in Cleveland, WI. Her nursing love and
specialty was obstetrics. Later in her career, she worked for Healthdyne, traveling around Wisconsin to
monitor and manage high-risk pregnancies from remote locations.
She was a longtime member of the First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls, and an active leader with
People to People, Camp Fire Girls, Camp Bird, Lamaze, and the Sheboygan Memorial Medical Auxiliary.
She enjoyed gardening, traveling and camping, playing bridge, sewing, baking, and cooking. Jane’s
greatest love was spending time with her family. “Grandma Jane” was generous and inclusive: Her
grandchildren were celebrated with “un-birthdays” at their siblings’ birthday parties.
She is survived by her brother, Joseph (Lois) Lyon of Arlington Heights, IL; a brother-in-law, Dale (Nancy)
Weygandt of Medina, OH; two daughters, Carolyn (Mark) Buzek of Norfolk, VA, and Elizabeth (Joe)
Kontur, of San Jose, CA; three sons, Scott Weygandt of Sheboygan Falls, John Weygandt of Highlands
Ranch, CO, and Alan (Elaine) Weygandt of Sheboygan; and seven grandchildren, Andrew (Valerie)
Weygandt, Brittany (Austin) Souto, Rebecca Weygandt, Stephen (Rie) Weygandt, Michelle Weygandt,
Eric Kontur, and Mark Kontur.
Jane was preceded in death by her husband, a sister, Martha Lyon, and a brother, James (Dawn) Lyon.
A memorial service to celebrate Jane’s life, officiated by the Rev. Brad Veenendaal, will take place at the
First Reformed Church in Sheboygan Falls at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Family and friends
may gather at the First Reformed Church, prior to the memorial service, from 1 p.m. until the time of
the service. A lunch reception at the church will be held following the service. A private inurnment will
take place at Sheboygan Falls Cemetery.
A memorial fund is being established in Jane’s memory for the Sharon S. Richardson Community
