Darlene M. Mech, 84, entered into eternal life on Monday, December 10 th , 2018. Darlene was born in
Merrill, WI on March 6 th , 1934 to the late Elmer & Delilah Krause. In June of 1955, she graduated from
St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing. Three months later, she married James Mech. They were blessed
with five children and 42 years of marriage until his death in 1997. Her years as a practicing nurse never
left her. There were countless stories of her patching up children in the neighborhood or providing
comfort and consult to those in need.
Darlene will be most remembered for her generosity, grace and elegance, and her incredible love for her
family. She had a living and steadfast faith. She was selfless and smart, and created a safe environment
for her children in which they could thrive. She was actively involved in education and taught art history
to elementary children. She brought light and life to every room and became fast friends with everyone.
The past four years of her life were spent at Elizabeth Residence in Bayside, WI. She loved her
community and her caregivers. The Mech family is eternally grateful for the incredible care she received.
Her last day was spent attending church with her family and listening to carolers at her residence. In the
end, she was happy, and that is a life well lived.
