It is with great sadness that the family of Brett Allan Solberg announces his passing on Monday,
November 12, 2018, at the age of 52 years. Brett will be lovingly remembered by his mother and
father, Jerelyn and Cardell Solberg, and by his brothers Nathan and Chad. Brett will also be
remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law, Catherine and Jody and by his nieces Megan, Kelly, Hayley
and Melanie.
Brett was a 1984 graduate of Sheboygan Falls High School, and later attended the University of
Wisconsin-Oshkosh. He was later employed by Kohls Corporation as a writer and graphic artist.
Brett was an avid fly-fisherman, and traveled many miles across the state to cast for trout, both
brown and brook. He fished the Rush and Kinnickinnic rivers of northwestern Wisconsin and
enjoyed casting a delicate 3-weight line to the brown trout of Timber Coulee Creek near La Crosse
and Black Earth Creek near Madison. His greatest fishing adventure was a trip to the country of
New Zealand, where he experienced great success on several of the most famous trout waters in the
world. Brett spent many hours bicycling on both road and trail, and in later years purchased a fat
bike so that he could extend his cycling season regardless of weather or terrain. Brett loved to enjoy
fine wine, and was known for bringing special and interesting bottles to share at every family
gathering.
A celebration of Brett’s life is being planned at a later date. Memorial donations in memory of Brett
can be made to the American Cancer Society, at the web address: donate3.cancer.org.
