But what do you do when a person is over 100 years old?
Helen Self, who just turned 109, has apparently been going to the restaurant since she turned 100. That year, of course, her bill was 100% paid for.
When she turned 101, though, she informed restaurant owner Nick Alonzo that he would have to not only pay for her meal, but pay her 1% of her meal's total.
Alonzo obliged and has been doing it every year since then.
So last week Ms. Self not only had her meal paid for in full, but she also earned 9% of the cost of her birthday dinner.
She kept her meal on the modest side, though, simply ordering some shrimp. She ended up earning a cool $1.30.
