Michael L. “Mike” Schmitz, age 44, of Elkhart Lake, passed
away on Friday morning (August 24, 2018) at Sheboygan Progressive Health
Services.
His parents were blessed the day he was born in Sheboygan on
December 11, 1973, son of Cindy (Cheney) Chouinard and the late Michael
Schmitz. Mike graduated from Plymouth
High School in 1991 and attended LTC in Cleveland.
On August 10, 2002, he married Kelly Groh. Together they raised their son, Zander, and
in 2006 they decided to part ways.
Mike started working as a carpenter for his good friend Dan
Pierce. He later became self-employed
for the last 12 years he was working.
He enjoyed raising animals on the farm: pigs, long horn
steers, and cattle. He was always
tinkering, both with cars and building things around the farm.
Mike was a great big brother to Julie, Khris, Terri and
Shelly, who had lived at the AFH that his mother ran for the last 20 years.
Most of all, Mike enjoyed spending time with his son and
partner in crime: Zander.
He is survived by: Son: Zander Schmitz and Mother: Cindy
Chouinard, both of Elkhart Lake.
He is also survived by other relatives and many good
friends.
Mike will be greatly missed by his companions, Fiona, Chloe
and Irma all loved him dearly
Mike was preceded in death by: His father; Maternal
grandparents: Bob and Rosie Cheney; and Uncle
Bobby and his beloved dog: Bella.
Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday (August 28,
2018) at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth.
Visitation will take place from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. with a prayer
service taking place at 1:00 P.M. Pastor
Dale Miller of Salem Plankroad United Church of Christ will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in
Mike’s name.

Mike’s
family would like to thank Rick for always being a best friend and helping
