Leona Grace Milbrath, 96, a long-time resident of Howards
Grove, died Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at her home. Leona was born on January 19, 1922 in
Ewington Township, Lakefield, MN to the late John and Elizabeth (Lubben) Rients. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church, Rost Town, MN by Reverend H. Meyer. Her confirmation verse was, 2 Corinthians
5:15. Leona graduated from Sioux Valley
High School, Jackson Co., MN in 1941. On
December 10, 1942 she married Alvin Milbrath in Pacific Grove, CA. Alvin preceded her in death on September 8,
1998.
In 1953 Leona and her family moved to Sheboygan, and in
January 1957 they made their home in Howards Grove. Leona was employed at Spiller Springs
Sheboygan from 1964 – 1978. She was a
member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Howards Grove and former member of the
Howards Grove VFW Axillary. Her greatest
enjoyment was time spent with her family.
Survivors include her children; Philip (Karen) Milbrath of
Kohler, Stanley (Karen) Milbrath of Cleveland, Dale (Rita) Milbrath of Howards
Grove, James (Carol) Milbrath of Howards Grove, Bernard (Rose) Milbrath of
Sheboygan, Lawrence (Faye) Milbrath of Howards Grove, and June ( Gary) Wiegand
of Sheboygan, twenty grandchildren; Kimberly (Chris) Zak of Verona, Chad
Milbrath of Kohler, Steven (Lisa) Milbrath of New Holstein, Stacey (Milbrath)
Schmitz of Kiel, Michael ( Vicky) Milbrath of Howards Grove, Shelli Milbrath of
Howards Grove, Darci Milbrath of St. Cloud, Lynn (Seth) Wesener of Cleveland,
Alan (Jen) Milbrath of Kiel, Melissa (John) Sharpe of Racine, Shelia (Scott)
LaBeau of West Allis, Timothy (Allie) Milbrath of North Prairie, Jared Barts of
Sheboygan, Erica (Eric) Breunig of Sheboygan Falls, Dana (Bryan) Grunewald of
Howards Grove, Laura (Justin) Koenig of Cleveland, Marie (Michael) Schroeder of
Plymouth, Thomas (Stacy) Milbrath of Howards Grove, Jeremy (Jill) Wiegand of Howards
Grove, Robert (Becky) Wiegand of New Berlin, thirty-six great-grandchildren;
four great-great-grandchildren, a
brother Melvin Rients of Lakefield, MN, a sister Ruth Voss of Mankato, MN, a
sister-in-law Lydia Johnson of Lakefield, MN, and many nieces and nephews,
other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband Alvin and her parents, she was
preceded in death by her sister Eda (Paul) Nauschutz, sister-in-law Georgia
Rients, and brothers-in-law, Jim Voss, Melvin Johnson, Art (Irene) Milbrath,
Alex (Ruby) Milbrath, Arnold (Carolyn) Milbrath, Albert (Birdelle) Milbrtah.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018
at 12:00 NOON at Zimmer-Westview Funeral & Cremation Care Center, W2132
Garton Rd., Sheboygan, with Rev. Darrel Bergelin officiating. Inurnment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial
Park. Relatives and friends may visit
with the family on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 10:00 AM until the time of
service at the FUNERAL HOME.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Sharon S.
Richardson Hospice in Leona’s name.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to
the nurses at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their care and
support.
