Jerome P. Gabrish, age 95, of Sheboygan passed away
surrounded by his family on June 23, 2018 at ManorCare Health Services in Fond
du Lac.
Jerome was born in Sheboygan on May 27, 1923 to the late
Anton and Emma (Sanem) Gabrish. He attended local schools. On December 6, 1947
Jerome married Betty Thorse in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death on December
24, 1998. On October 31, 1999 he married Patricia Willette in Sheboygan.
Jerome proudly served his country from 1943 to 1946 in The
United States Army. He was stationed in The Philippines and was a proud WWII
veteran. He received many medals while serving which include, WWII Campaign
Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign, The American Campaign, Philippine Liberation
Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal and one Bronze Star. Jerome was a member of the

Black Hawk Division. He was a member of VFW Post 9156 where he
also served on the Funeral Honor Guard. When the VFW started their fish fry, he
was a bus boy from age 80 until he was 90. Jerome also volunteered his time to
help build the post.
Jerome was well known for his many jokes and always leaving
a smile on your face. He loved listening to music and dancing. He also enjoyed
fishing with his son, Jim. He loved to travel with New Orleans being one of his
favorite spots. There he was able to tour the National World War II Museum.
Another favorite of Jerome’s was making memories in San Diego where his son
John lived. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Jerome is survived by his wife, Patricia; his son James
(Barbara) Gabrish; his daughter Linda (Warren) Allwardt; step-sons, Douglas
(Stephanie) and Daniel; grandchildren, Joshua, Lindsey (Chris), Amy and Shannon
(Bruce); great-grandchildren, Jasmine, Kalei, Avery, Courtney, Noah, Elizabeth
and Emma; step grandchildren, Justin (TaShenna), Shawn, Kaileanna and Clayton
and a step great grandchild Jason. Jerome is also survived by a brother-in-law
John and sisters-in-law Joan, Cathi and Peggy. Other nieces, nephews, friends
and family further survive.
He was preceded in death by a son John, brother Joseph and a
great-granddaughter Charlotte.
A memorial service for Jerome will be held at 1 PM on
Saturday, July 7, 2018 at Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center
(W2132 Garton Rd, Sheboygan) with Pastor DuWayne Hanke officiating. Family will
receive visitors on Saturday at the funeral home from 11 AM until the time of service
at 1 PM. Jerome will be laid to rest at Lutheran Cemetery.
The family would like to personally thank the staff at
ManorCare Health Services and Heartland Hospice for their excellent care given
to Jerome.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in
Jerome’s name.
