Russell C. Wampler, 73, of
Plymouth (formerly of Reedsville) passed away on Thursday (May 24, 2018) at
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls surrounded by loving
family.
He was born in New
Holstein, WI on July 26, 1944, a son of the late Ernest and Lucille (Thede)
Wampler.
Russell attended Kewaskum
High School where he excelled in football, basketball, cross county and music.
He graduated in 1961.
In 1965 he married Sandy
Wodack at Trinity Lutheran Church in Kiel. She preceded him in death on
September 6, 2005.
In March 2006, he married
Penny Bruggink. She preceded him in death on August 10, 2016.
In his younger years he
worked the Pipeline, installed telephones, and worked his way into the
engineering department at GTE where he retired in 1997.
He played basketball in
the Plymouth City League, was a founding member of the Sundown Coon Hunters
Club, and a current member of the Branch River Riders in Manitowoc.
Russell enjoyed making
people laugh, playing cards, working with the foals every spring, and
especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his
Three Daughters: Lisa (Dennis) Bouvat of Plymouth, Vicki Gravatt (Mark Losson) of Plymouth,
Rebecca Wampler of Plymouth; One Step-Son: Chad (Beth) Heinen of Oostburg; Six grandchildren: Bryan Bouvat, Lauren
(Shawn) Burkhardt , Alex Gravatt, Millie-Kay Dyke, Olivia and Brynnly Heinen; Two sisters: Beverly (Bob) Wildgrube of DePere
and Karen (Jack) Barlement of Manitowoc; Sister-in-law: Wendy (Dan) Boll of
Kiel; and Brother-in-law: Norris
Jergensen of North Carolina.
Also survived by many
nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by his
parents; both wives; One brother: Victor (Nancy) Wampler; and One Sister:
Darlene Jergensen.
Following Russell’s
wishes, cremation has taken place.
A Celebration of Russell’s
Life will be held on Thursday (June 7, 2018) from 3:00 – 6:00 P.M. at Suchon
Funeral Home in Plymouth, with a Prayer Service and sharing of stories and
memories taking place at 6:00 P.M. Father Wayne Bittner will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a
memorial fund is being established in Russell’s name.
