Robert George Thackray, age 78, of Glenbeulah, WI, passed
away Friday (April 20, 2018) at Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls.
He was born on September 10, 1939 in Plymouth, WI, a son
of the late George and Kathryn (Grebe) Thackray.
Robert attended Greenbush Grade School and graduated from
Plymouth High School in 1957. He went on to Milwaukee school of Engineering
earning his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
He then enlisted in the United States Air Force Officers
Training School graduating with the rank of Lieutenant, then receiving a
Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering. After serving 15 years in the
Military, Robert moved on to Teledyne Industries in Huntsville, Alabama in
their Aerospace Division. He then retired from John Deere Corporation in Fargo,
North Dakota, as head of their electrical research division.
Robert enjoyed everything that involved technology and
electronics.
Survivors include his sister: Karen Longrie of
Glenbeulah; One nephew: Kerry (Gwen Aasen) Longrie and his children: Zane and
Ingrid Longrie all of Plymouth; and Betsy Longrie, wife of his late nephew
Terrill G. Longrie, and her daughter Maelie Longrie both of Glendale.
He is also survived by other relatives and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and nephew,
Terrill G. Longrie.
Following Robert’s wishes, cremation has taken place and
graveside services will be held on Saturday (June 9, 2018) at 11:30 A.M. at
Greenbush Cemetery in Town of Greenbush. Pastor Henry Verfuerth, Pastor of New
Hope United Methodist Church will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established
in Robert’s name for Sharon S. Richardson Hospice.
