Charles E. Berg, 83, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday,
April 17, 2018 at Sheboygan Health Services.
He was born May 12, 1934, in Sheboygan, to the late Benjamin and Norma
(Zastrow) Berg. As a youth, he was an
outstanding athlete in baseball and basketball.
He served his country in the United States Air Force as a radar control
operator. Charlie was a hard worker in a
variety of occupations, including owning his own house painting company,
serving as a police officer for the City of Sheboygan Falls and was the
proprietor of the Six Corners Restaurant.
He met his wife, LaVerne D. Grunewald, at the Howards Grove Picnic. The couple wed on December 12, 1959. She preceded him in death on October 10,
1999. Charlie raised and raced homing
pigeons for many years, loved westerns, especially John Wayne movies, drinking
beer and arguing politics. He was also a
fan of the Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers. Charlie was known for his sense of humor,
stubbornness and pride.
Survivors include his five children, Cheryl Tenpenny (fiancé
Scott Prescher), Oostburg, Lori Berg (Ron Daugherty), Tempe, AZ, Christine
(Otto) Walter, Billings, MT, Chuck Berg, Jr., Elkhart Lake and Lana
(Christopher) Sieracki, Manitowoc; ten grandchildren, Shauna (Sean)
Tenpenny-Cheema, Wauwatosa, Brett Tenpenny, Manitowoc, Aaron Baackes, Chandler,
AZ, Chelsey Walter, Austin, TX, Samantha Walter, Billings, MT, Austin Walter,
Billings, MT, CJ Berg, Elkhart Lake, Katy Berg, Howards Grove, Julia Sieracki,
Manitowoc and Shane Sieracki, Manitowoc; one brother, Daniel (Pat) Berg; one
sister-in-law, Karen Berg. He is further
survived by nieces, nephews, in-laws and other relatives.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in
death by his son-in-law, Don Tenpenny, four sisters, two brothers and other
extended family.
A funeral service for Charlie will be held on Saturday,
April 28, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Zimmer’s Westview Funeral and Cremation Care
Center (Hwy 42 & JJ, Howards Grove).
Friends may call on Saturday, at the funeral home, from 2:00 p.m. until
the time of services. A private
interment will take place on Monday.
