“Peggy”
Jeanette Buteyn, 92, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at
Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
Peggy
was born March 22, 1925 in Kohler, WI to Cornelius and Cornella (Minnard)
Buteyn. In her younger years, she enjoyed growing up on the land of the Kohler
Stables where her father worked with the horses. In the 1950s, she moved to
Holland, Michigan to pursue her degree from Hope College. Throughout her years
at the college she worked various jobs as a residence director, secretary, and
Departmental Counselor. After graduation, Peggy devoted her career and life to
helping others. She worked as a social worker for the State of Michigan.
In
1984, Peggy returned to be closer to her family. She was a member of Hope
Reformed Church in Sheboygan. She was wonderful at encouraging others on their
Christian walk. Peggy was a humble servant of Jesus Christ and His church. She
had a passion for music and loved serving as the church organist for many
years.
Peggy
was bright, quick-witted, humorous, a good listener and conversationalist. She
was always smiling, positive, warm and caring. Her hobbies included the piano, crosswords,
sewing, babysitting, and baking. Peggy took great joy in teaching children how
to bake, especially young Connor who recently learned how to make her signature
poppy seed bread. Her cookies, cakes, and breads were enjoyed by everyone she
knew.
Peggy
is survived by many generations of loved ones who became like family; Ken, Sara, Nathan & Calla Born, James & Marilyn Holden
family; neighbors, Curt, Jean, Alex, Mathew & Anna Brauer, Kay
Hilpertshauser; dear friends, Gertie & Bert Stam family, Nori Huibregtse,
