William F. Boesel, age 72, of Glenbeulah, WI, passed away
on Thursday Evening (February 8, 2018) after a heroic battle with ALS.
Bill was born in Milwaukee on January 10, 1946 to Harold
and Mabel Boesel. In 1948 they packed up
their kids: Violet, Ray, Norma, and Bill and moved out to the farm in the Town
of Greenbush where their youngest child, Kathy, joined them. Harold died shortly after the move leaving
Mabel to raise the kids alone. It was
Mabel’s perseverance in the face of such hardship that cemented Bill’s strong
work ethic throughout his life.
Bill attended St. John’s Lutheran School and Plymouth
High School. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserves and served his country as a
Seabee in Vietnam. Bill had a 40-year
career as a cable splicer, a phone technician and a mentor for GTE / Verizon. After retiring, Bill hit the road with
“Irene”, his trusty GPS, as a delivery driver for Rohde Brothers.
Bill married Bonnie (née Mayhew) in 1969 and though
he often joked that he first started dating her for her ‘63 Chevy, it was clear
after 48 years the two shared an unbreakable bond. Bill weathered ALS without complaint and
Bonnie remained by his side as his companion and caretaker.
Bill loved his family and was good to his friends. He
enjoyed making popcorn for his grandchildren, playing hours-long Monopoly games
with his kids, feeding morning toast to Baze, his golden retriever of 14 years,
watching the races, and keeping his yard looking pristine in all seasons. He
and Bonnie liked going to concerts and frequenting the area supper clubs as
much for the prime rib as for the brandy old fashioneds.
Family includes his wife, Bonnie; His children: Brett
Boesel, Scott (Lori) Boesel, Terri Boesel, Leah (Mike) Maloof; Four grandchildren:
Anna, Lucas, Liam and Raya; Three sisters: Violet Feldmann, Norma Walker, Kathy
Mathes; Four sisters-in law: Lois (John) Lapcewich, Jill (Jack) Langemak,
Bonnie Mayhew, Mary Mayhew; His beloved dog Ruby Blue and several nieces and
nephews with a special thank you to Dan (Alice) Feldmann, Lori (Randy) Schmitt
and Megan (Bill) Heus.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Brother: Ray; Brothers-in
law: Howard Feldmann, Bill Mayhew and Norman Walker; Nephew: David Mathes and other
good friends who have gone before him.
