Daniel Ervin “Dan” Tenpas, age 69, of Town of
Rhine, passed away at
home, where he was surrounded by his loving family, on
Friday, February 2, 2018, following a
brief illness.
He was born in
Sheboygan
on
October 17, 1948,
son of the late Ervin and Margaret (Ramaker) Tenpas.
Dan attended local grade schools and graduated from
Elkhart
Lake
High School
in 1966. Following high school, he
served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany from 1967-1970.
On
April 24, 1971,
he married Suzanne Mayer at Holy Name Catholic Church in
Sheboygan.
Dan's grandfather and father were both farmers, and Dan
followed in their footsteps. He had
helped out on the farm growing up, then purchased his own farm in Town
Rhine. Dan also worked at Gilson
Brothers from 1966 until 1980. In 1980,
his father passed away and Dan took over the family farm and continued to
operate it until his illness.
In addition to farming, Dan loved to watch the Packers,
attend his grandchildren’s sporting events, going to the stock car races on
Saturday nights with Dave TenPas, deer hunting on his land, and
snowmobiling. He was a member of the
Louis Corners Snowmobile Club, and also belonged to the Plymouth VFW Post 5612.
Survivors include: His loving wife: Sue Tenpas; Two
daughters: Shelly (Darrick) Steiner of Plymouth and Marsha (Paul) Dirks of
Elkhart Lake; Five grandchildren: Eli and Cora Steiner, and Jenna, Joseph, and
Katelyn Dirks; Brothers: Tom Tenpas of Poynette, Russ (Sue) Tenpas of Valencia,
CA, Jim (Sandy) TenPas of Elkhart Lake, and Clay (Margaret) Seehaver of
Plymouth; One sister: Nancy (Jeff) Johnson of Glenbeulah; Brother-in-law: Randy
(Terri) Mayer of Sheboygan; Sister-in-law: Diann TenPas of Plymouth; Special cousin: Garry (Donna) TenPas of
Cascade; Special friends: Henry (Sandy) Muesegades of Plymouth and Terry (Barb)
Groh of Elkhart Lake.
He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
many friends.
Dan was preceded in death by: His parents; Sister: Mary
Ellen Myers; Brother: Dave TenPas; and Step-mother: Pat TenPas.
Following Dan’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there
will be no service or visitation.
