Lloyd Wallace Mentink, 91, of
Cedar Grove, passed away on Thursday, January 4, 2018, at Pine Haven Christian
Home in Sheboygan Falls.
Lloyd was born on March 1, 1926,
in Sheboygan to Walter and Alice (Faas) Mentink. He was a 1944 graduate of
Cedar Grove High School. After graduation Lloyd served his country in the
United States Army. On July 16, 1947, Lloyd married Muriel TenPas. She preceded
him in death on July 27, 1994. Lloyd worked on the assembly line at Bolens in
Port Washington until his retirement. After retirement, Lloyd married Helen Vis
and they lived in Waupun for 12 years until she passed away in 2008.
Lloyd was a member of First
Reformed Church of Cedar Grove, where he served as a deacon and elder. Lloyd
enjoyed doing puzzles and was an avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed
watching the Brewers, Packers and playing golf. He was a
“do-it-yourselfer”. He always enjoyed trying to figure out how things
worked and how to fix them when they were broke. Lloyd was a people person, whose gentle and kind
spirit made an impact on everyone he met.
Lloyd is survived by his two
daughters, Rosemary (Don) DeMaster and Carol (David) VanderWaal; one
daughter-in-law, Dawn (Phil) Riebling; 10 grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; one sister, Beatrice VanEss; and one brother-in-law, Carl
(JoAnn) TenPas. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and
friends.
Lloyd was preceded in death by
his parents; his two wives, Muriel and Helen; one son, Roger; two sisters,
Marian (Paul) Tempas, and Doris (Lloyd) VanEss; one brother-in-law, Irvin
VanEss; and parents-in-law, Herbert (Mabel) TenPas.
A funeral service to celebrate
Lloyd's life will be held on Tuesday, January 9, 2018, at 11am at First
Reformed Church in Cedar Grove with Rev.David Van Dixhorn and Rev. Chris
Schaefer officiating. Military Honors will take place immediately following at
church. A family burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet
the family at First Reformed Church of Cedar Grove on Monday, January 8, 2018,
from 4pm until 7pm and again on Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the church from
9:30 am until the time of service at 11am.
A memorial fund is being
established in his name for Pine Haven Christian Home and Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice.
