Nelda Antoinette Voskuil, 97, of
Cedar Grove, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2018, at Sharon S. Richardson
Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.
Nelda was born on January 2,
1920, in the Town of Holland to Louis and Jennie (Nyenhuis) Voskuil. She was a
graduate of Cedar Grove Memorial Academy and continued her education at the
County Normal School and University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she obtained her
Bachelor’s degree in education. Nelda worked as a faithful educator for many
years at various school districts.
She was a member of Calvary
Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove where she served as the church
librarian for many years as well in the Missions Society. She enjoyed
traveling, photography, calligraphy, and playing bridge. Above all, she was an
important part of her family’s life, an example of faith, contentedness, and
demonstrated a servant heart.
Nelda is survived by her
sister-in-law, Audrey Voskuil of Chattanooga, TN; six nephews, Wilfred (Lana)
Gesch Jr. of Spokane, WA, Curtis Lou (Elizabeth) Gesch of Telkwa, BC, Jeffrey
Paul (Jerilyn) Gesch of Cedar Grove, Brian Lee (Kathy) Gesch of Cedar Grove,
Kevin Jan (Gwen) Gesch of Town of Holland, Timothy Lou Voskuil of NM; three
nieces, Lynn (James Kastely) Voskuil of Houston, TX, Susan Jean Voskuil of NC,
and Lisa Voskuil (Michael) Baker of Huntsville, AL. She was further survived by
many great and great-great nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
Nelda was preceded in death by
her parents, Louis and Jennie Voskuil; two sisters, Elinore Mae Gesch, Harriet
Joan Voskuil; a brother, Louis Junior Voskuil; a brother-in-law, Wilfred Gesch
Sr., and a great-nephew, Jeffrey Brian Gesch.
A funeral service to celebrate
Nelda's life will be held on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Calvary Orthodox
Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove at 11:30 am with Rev. David Cornette
officiating. A burial will take place at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may greet
the family at Calvary Orthodox Presbyterian Church in Cedar Grove on Monday,
January 8, 2018 from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:30 am.
A memorial fund is being
established in her name for Oostburg Christian School.
