TOWN OF MEEME, WI (WHBL) - A rural Cleveland man has died in a motorcycle crash in the Manitowoc County township of Meeme just east of School Hill. Coroner Curtis Green said 53 year old Eugene Spindler was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 8 o'clock Monday morning.
Spindler was eastbound on County Highway "X" when his motorcycle struck the rear of a four-row corn planter being pulled by a tractor. The driver of that vehicle, 55 year old James Scharenbroch, of Kiel, suffered no apparent injuries.
Alcohol was said to be a factor in the crash. Weather also may have played a role, according to the coroner's report. Green said Spindler wasn't wearing a helmet and the cause of death was attributed to a skull fracture and other blunt-force traumatic injuries.
