SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Sheboygan woman and two cats were rescued Monday morning from a burning home in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue. The Fire Department received a report of a house fire at 7 a.m. Batallion Chief Tim Kohlbeck said when firefighters arrived they encountered fire and dense smoke billowing from the back of the house with near zero visibility inside. Kohlbeck said as they arrived on the scene firefighters learned there was a woman trapped in a second floor bedroom. They laddered the east side of the home and were able to find her and bring her out of second floor window and rescued two cats in the process. The woman was taken to Sheboygan Memorial with non-life threatening injuries. It took firefighters about 20 minutes to bring the fire under control. There's no word yet on a cause or extent of damage.
