KOHLER, WI (WHBL) - Four Milwaukee residents face forgery charges for using fake checks to purchase gift cards from Target in Kohler.
Kohler Police received a call from the store last Friday, saying three males and one female; 31 year old Curtis Hill, 28 year old Larenna Neeley, 27 year old Donnell Williams Jr. and 26 year old Melvin Williams, were at the store and it was believed they had tried to pass counterfeit money in the past. Once the four left and entered the nearby Arby’s, authorities found they had used two fake checks to purchase Visa gift cards totaling around $200.
Authorities were able to take the four into custody, but not before Hill fled a short distance and Donnell fled over and under I-43 around the Highway 28 interchange. During interviews, Melvin told authorities it was Neeley who approached him with the idea to write a fake check.
All four face up to 12 years in prison if found guilty.
