MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - Khris Davis hit a two-run walk-off single Thursday afternoon to give the Milwaukee Brewers a 4-3 home victory over Pittsburgh. Ryan Braun led off the ninth inning with a single. Jonathan Lucroy and Mark Reynolds both walked, before Davis hit a broken-bat flare into shallow center with nobody out to win it. It was a much-needed pick-me-up for the Brewers' new left-fielder, who was only hitting .132 at home this year. Mark Melancon pitched to all four Milwaukee batters in the decisive ninth, as the Crew earned its second walk-off victory in the past week and improved to 8-2 over the Pirates this season. Rob Wooten got the win with one-and-a-third innings of scoreless relief. He's now 1-1. Rickie Weeks fell a triple short of the cycle, as he went 3 for 4 with his first homer since last July - a solo shot which gave Milwaukee the early lead. Martin Maldonado also homered for the Brewers, who took two of three from the Pirates while winning four of their last five overall. Tony Sanchez belted a two-run homer, and Gaby Sanchez added a solo shot for Pittsburgh, which has dropped three of its last four. Milwaukee opens a weekend series in Chicago this afternoon against the Cubs. Right-hander Kyle Lohse faces Cubs' right-hander Jeff Samardzija. Pregame coverage on WHBL begins at 12:45.
