MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - The Pittsburgh Pirates scored three runs in the ninth inning Wednesday night to beat the Milwaukee Brewers, 4-1 at Miller Park. The Brewers ended a three-game winning streak, and the Pirates won at Miller Park for the first time in their last six tries. Chris Stewart broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run single off closer Francisco Rodriguez, who took the loss and dropped to 1-1. Starling Marte drove in Pittsburgh's final run with a double to deep center. The three runs increased K-Rod's E-R-A from .45 to 1.64. Tony Watson got the win in relief. He threw a scoreless eighth inning to improve to 4-0. Mark Melancon worked around a two-out single in the ninth for his fifth save. Milwaukee's offense went cold again, mustering only six hits. Two of them came in the fifth inning before Jeff Bianchi hit a sacrifice fly to bring home Khris Davis for Milwaukee's only run. Ryan Braun had two hits, as the Brewers went 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position. Milwaukee will try to win its three-game set against the Pirates this afternoon at Miller Park.
