SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Seven schools in the Sheboygan Area School District have recently received honors from the Wisconsin Positive Behavioural Interventions and Supports program.
Cleveland and Sheridan elementary schools received the highest honor as a School of Distinction in the program. Five other district schools, Cooper, Jefferson, James Madison, Lincoln-Redman elementary and South High School, were selected as Schools of Merit.
PBIS is a program where teaching and supporting appropriate school behaviors is done on a school-wide systematic approach. The approach will acknowledge students who display appropriate behaviors and increase support with those students who display difficulites with appropriate behaviors.
Seth Harvetine, SASD Director of Instructional Services, says they are happy to have schools earn these distinctions, and credits it to the staff at those schools. He says all schools in the district will be taking part in PBIS programming by the 2016-17 school year.
