SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The City of Sheboygan hopes to grow the number of official neighborhood associations by starting a mayor’s leadership cabinet for them. The inaugural event is scheduled for Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Courtroom at the Police Department.
Mayor Mike Vandersteen said the cabinet will be a place where leaders of associations can get together to help improve their part of the city. He said one way they could do this is by helping to fund projects that associations want to accomplish. Another way is to have a place where association leaders can swap ideas with one another.
Currently, there are two official neighborhood associations - Ellis and Gateway - but there have been unofficial groups formed with the help of Sheboygan Neighborhood Pride. Vandersteen hopes the cabinet can lead to success similar to that of Green Bay, where they have around three dozen neighborhood groups.
The meeting is open to anyone, and those wanting to attend are asked to call 459-3317 to reserve a spot.
