MADISON, Wis. (WSAU) -- The present supply problem for propane distributors has prompted some additional help from Wisconsin Transportation officials.
Starting Monday, motor carriers hauling fuel and other energy resources can haul overweight loads under rules now used by milk haulers.
State Patrol Captain Brian Ausloos says truckers hauling fuel and oil can transport loads up to 10 percent greater than the gross axle and axle combination weight limitations, but not more than 15 percent greater than the gross vehicle weight limitations.
The same emergency order by the state allows carriers transporting energy resources to self-declare and temporarily suspend rules related to hours of service and driver qualifications. This emergency declaration will last 30 days, and apply to all Wisconsin roads.
