SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan Fire Department battled a house fire on the city's south side early Sunday morning.

Shift Commander Dean Klien said engine units responded to the call at 1627 Washington Avenue around 1:50 a.m.  The single family home had flames visible when crews arrived.  Firefighters battled the fire for at least four hours.  Klien said off duty firefighters were called in to assist and relieve crew members due to weather conditions.  The Village of Kohler Fire Department's aerial platform was also used.

The family that was living at the residence was evacuated with no reported injuries.  The Red Cross has been called in to assist.

We will update this story as more information become available.
