SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A kitchen fire Friday afternoon resulted in $6000 damage to a north side Sheboygan apartment building. The fire was discovered shortly after two o'clock when the upstairs tenant was alerted by a smoke detector. Sheboygan firefighters were dispatched to the home in the 1600 block of North 35th Street, where they found the lower apartment filled with smoke and a cooking appliance in flames on top of the stove. Battalion Chief Keith Risse said the fire had spread to surrounding cabinets and kitchen supplies and was quickly extinguished. He said the downstairs tenants weren’t home at the time.
