FOND DU LAC COUNTY, WI ( WHBL) - More than 200 acres of marsh and grass burned in a fire north of Waupun Friday. Smoke could be seen over three different counties and ash from the fire fell as far away as Fond du Lac. Brandon-Fairwater Fire Captain Adam Brown says the fire started on Amity Road between Highway 49 and County M.
As of now, the extent of damage does not include structural property. The cause of the fire is being determined. There was a controlled burn in the area. Other fire departments lending a hand included Ripon, Rosendale, Alto and Waupun.
The fire danger across Wisconsin has been at a high level for the past few days due to warm temperatures, breezy winds, and low humidity. Scanner traffic has indicated some minor fires occurring around Sheboygan County on Friday.
