SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County will no longer allow retirees to remain on the county’s health insurance. The county board voted Tuesday night to end the practice.
County Administrator Adam Payne, on Sheboygan’s Morning News, said the retirees pay the premium, but it was still a costly venture for the county. Last year, there was $1.4 million in claims. Retirees were covering about $450,000, resulting in county taxpayers covering $650,000 of the claims for 35 retirees.
County officials have been meeting with the retirees in recent weeks to assist them in exploring other options for health insurance.
