SHEBOYGAN COUNTY, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County saw a slight drop in the amount of miles vehicles drove on roadways in the county last year.
According to the state Department of Transportation, the estimated daily vehicle miles traveled in 2012 was just over 2.6 million. That's down over 15-thousand miles from actual counted figures in 2011, and is the lowest number recorded based on available data going back to 1998.
Across all of Wisconsin, the VMT number grew just under one percent last year to more than 59 billion miles. Traffic forecasting officials credit this to more commercial vehicle use due to a stronger economy plus an increase in the state’s population.
