RANDOM LAKE, WI (WHBL) - Students in Random Lake High School have a new incentive to behave properly. The district has implemented a program called Rams Bucks. It’s designed to follow the Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports model where good behavior is encouraged and rewarded. Students receive a Ram Buck when teachers notice them exhibiting one of four values; be here, be prepared, be respectful or be positive.
Students can use them to purchase items from the school store. Teacher Ryan Faris said the bucks can also be used in the classroom for incentives such as delaying a quiz or working with another student on a project. Rams Bucks can also be used for special drawings for bigger incentives like parking spots or free admission to extracurricular events.
Faris adds that empty and quieter hallways once new class periods begin show that students are buying into the program, and that it has created a better learning environment.
