RANDOM LAKE, WI (WHBL) - Random Lake Elementary Principal Sandra Mountain spent her Friday reading on the school’s roof.  She said it was due to a “Principal’s Challenge” from a teacher in connection with National Young Reader’s Week.  She was on the roof the entire school day reading whatever she could get her hands on, which qualified the school to be in a national drawing to win 100 copies of the 8th edition of "Diary of a Wimpy Kid".

If Friday's warm and sunny weather wasn't enough encouragement, Mountain also had the support of staff and students throughout the day.  Some students even joined her in reading during their recess on the playground below.  Mountain said the situation was a win-win since it also helps to encourage the students in reading more.

Mountain is no stranger to such challenges.  Last school year she shaved her head and donated her hair to Locks for Love when elementary students surpassed one million minutes of reading.
