If Brett Favre had a son, he'd be "real leery" of letting him play football

NEW YORK, NY (WTAQ) - Brett Favre now says that if he had a son, he'd be quote, "real leery" of letting him play football.

The former Green Bay Packers' quarterback talked about the subject with NBC's Matt Lauer, to be aired on Monday's "Today" show.

Favre, who's now 44, has two daughters -- and he recently admitted that he could not remember an entire season of one of his girl's school soccer games. He told Lauer he's facing quote, "scary memory issues" which he blames on numerous concussions during his 20-year NFL playing career -- including 16 seasons with the Packers.

Favre said quote, "In some respects, I'm almost glad I don't have a son because of the pressures he would face," especially the physical toll of playing football.

More former NFL greats are expressing concerns about the dangers of the game, in the wake of a massive lawsuit accusing the NFL of not paying enough attention to the effects of players' concussions a number of years ago.
