Packers Confirm Rodgers Suffered Broken Collarbone

GREEN BAY, WI (WHBL) - Aaron Rodgers will be the first Green Bay Packers' starting quarterback in 21 years to miss two straight games.  He and coach Mike McCarthy both confirmed on Tuesday that Rodgers broke his left collarbone when he was sacked early in Monday night's Packer home loss to Chicago.  Neither would say how long the Packers would be without their franchise quarterback.  Rodgers said on his weekly Milwaukee radio show that there's not a specific type of rehab, and he can only wait for the bone to heal.  Various national reports said Rodgers would be out for at least three weeks.  Don Majkowski  was the last Green Bay starting quarterback to miss at least two straight games - that being in 1992 when he injured an ankle.  Rodgers says he's a quick healer, and McCarthy said additional tests showed that the outlook was better than expected.  In the coach's words, "I'm relieved, no doubt."  McCarthy also made it clear that back-up Seneca Wallace will lead the Packers for now, at least for Sunday's home contest against Philadelphia.  It will be Wallace's first start since the 2011 season finale when he was with Cleveland.  Media reports say ex-Badger and current practice squad player Scott Tolzien is being groomed as Wallace's back-up.  Reports indicate the Packers will not bring in Matt Flynn for a second stint, after he was released by Buffalo on Monday.

Meanwhile, Packers' tight end Jermichael Finley was placed on season-ending injured reserve Tuesday after he bruised his spinal cord on October 20th against Cleveland.  He was motionless for six minutes after he caught a pass and was hit in the helmet. Coach Mike McCarthy said Finley would play tomorrow if it were up to him, but the coach said all the medical documents he received showed that Finley should wait at least until next year.  He's a free agent at the end of the season.  Also, Packers' inside linebacker Sam Barrington was placed on the I-R with an injured hamstring he sustained Monday night.  Guard T-J Lang remains out with a concussion suffered against the Bears.  When he left, right tackle Don Barclay moved inside to Lang's right guard spot, and Marshall Newhouse was plugged in at right tackle.
