SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - The Sheboygan Fire Department rescued a 14 year old boy from a house fire early Tuesday morning. Fire Commander Keith Risse said firefighters were dispatched to a duplex in the 1900 block of North 11th Street shortly before 1am and spotted the teen on an airing porch. Risse says they got a ladder up to him and got him down safely. Risse said a smoke detector had alerted people on both levels of the duplex and everyone got out safely - those upstairs using the stairs. He said the teen went to the porch and then, because of thick smoke, was unable to turn back. The upper apartment and attic area were extensively damaged and there was water damage to the lower apartment. The cause remains under investigation. Damage has been estimated at $75,000.
