It was a tall order for the Green Bay Phoenix women against a very tall LSU team, having to open the NCAA Womens tournament on the Lady Tigers home floor in Baton Rouge, Louisiana Sunday night. LSU turned a 7 point halftime lead into 15 with an 8-0 start after intermission. The Phoenix fell behind by as many as 18 before battling back. Hitting key three point shots, Green Bay closed to within three twice in the final minutes but couldn't get over the hump, falling 75-71. Sarah Eichler led Green Bay with 22 points, Adrian Ritchie added 16 and Jenny Gilbertson scored a career high 15 as the Phoenix winning streak ended at 24. Green Bay finished the year 29-3 and the five member senior class capped their careers with a 4th straight NCAA bid and a record of 122-16 in their four years.
