The 20th ranked Green Bay Phoenix women dominated Valparaiso in the quarterfinals of the Horizon League tournament at the Kress Events Center Wednesday night 80-59. Senior Adrian Ritchie scored a career high 27 points on a career best 7, three point baskets. Lydia Bauer added 17 and Sarah Eichler delivered a career high 11 assists. It was the 22nd straight victory for Green Bay (27-2) and moves them to the semifinal round at the Kress Friday night. Green Bay will play 4th seeded Detroit. Loyola advanced with a 71-64 victory over Milwaukee. The Ramblers will meet 2nd seeded Youngstown State. The winners will play for the Horizon title and automatic bid to the NCAA Womens tournament on Sunday.
The Green Bay Phoenix men will play on. Head coach Brian Wardle has accepted an invitation to play in the collegeinsider.com tournament. It's the first post-season trip for Wardle in his three years in Green Bay. The Phoenix (18-15) reached the semifinals of the Horizon League tournament last week and they will play at Bradley (16-16), the 7th place finisher in the Missouri Valley Conference next Wednesday night.
