MADISON, WI (WHBL) - Private property owners and developers in Sheboygan County now have a service available to determine if wetlands are on their property. Starting this month, the DNR will offer a Wetland Identification Service.
For a fee of $300 per acre and up to five acres, a member of the DNR wetland identification team will provide a written evaluation within 60 days detailing if wetlands are definitively on that property. This service, which eliminates the need of a permit, is designed for smaller property owners who may want to build or buy land, but question if wetlands are located there.
The service will begin in 15 eastern counties this year, and will expand statewide next year.
