Area State Senators vote for budget

MADISON, WI (WHBL) - Sheboygan County's two Republican Senators joined the majority in approving the new state budget early this morning.

Joe Leibham of Sheboygan said it focuses on tax relief and fiscal responsibility, something that is a top priority of his.  He added he is proud the budget focuses on these two areas.

Senator Glenn Grothman of West Bend agrees with Leibham, pointing that income taxes will be down around four-percent across all incomes.  He also agrees with the two-year tuition freeze for UW schools and toughening requirements for people under the age of fifty without dependents getting food stamps.

The budget passed the Senate 17 to 16.  It is expected to be signed by Governor Walker by the end of the month.
