SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - One of the two teens charged in the murder of an elderly Sheboygan Falls woman last September is expected to take the stand on Wednesday in the trial of 14 year old Nathan Paape. Paape and 14 year old Antonio (Tino) Barbeau are charged with brutally murdering 78 year old Barbara Olsen. Barbeau has already pled no contest in a plea bargain and will be called to testify. On Tuesday the jury was shown graphic pictures of the victim’s body. The Medical Examiner who did the autopsy told the jury that the victim had been struck in the head at least 18 times, one blow leaving a gaping hole in her skull. Those blows are alleged to have been inflicted with a hammer and a hatchet. The defense is attempting to prove that the murder and robbery were planned by Barbeau and that Paape only went along because he feared Barbeau. DA Joe DeCecco contends they planned it and carried it out together. It will ultimately be up to the jury to decide and they could get the case tomorrow.
