SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - As the Fourth of July approaches, the Sheboygan Police Department is reminding people about firework restrictions in the city. Ordinances prohibit the use of fireworks and its possession even if they were bought legally. Captain Steve Cobb said the department will strictly enforce the ordinances immediately. He said one reason for this is for public safety. Cobb says many homes in the city are wooden construction and there have been fires and injuries caused by fireworks. Cobb wants people to assist them in enforcing these ordinances by calling the department if you notice firework use. He said those caught will pay a fine of at least 250 dollars.
