FOND DU LAC, WI (WTAQ) - A Milwaukee man has a $2,000 bond set after he allegedly stole a minivan that had a child inside at a Fond du Lac parking lot.
19-year-old Juan Gutierrez is charged with take and drive a vehicle without the owner's consent.
A $2,000 cash bond has been set for the man accused of stealing a minivan that had a child inside at a Fond du Lac parking lot.
On Monday afternoon, the van was taken from a Shopko parking lot. According to FOX 11, Holly Jaschob left her 9-year-old son Eli inside the van because he wasn't wearing shoes. So Holly left him in the van with the keys while she went inside the store.
While Holly Jaschob was in the store, a man got into the minivan and drove away. Eli was playing with a cell phone, and when it rang, the man realized the child was in the van. The man stopped and let Eli out before continuing. Eli was not hurt.
Gutierrez and the van were found Wednesday in West Allis. The van was not damaged. Fond du Lac police say Gutierrez told them he had been in an argument with family members, was upset about not being able to find a job and needed to get out of town.
If convicted, Gutierrez faces six years in prison.
