MILWAUKEE, WI (WHBL) - The Milwaukee Brewers lost a 10-8 slugfest Thursday afternoon to San Diego at Miller Park. Yovani Gallardo, the subject of trade rumors this month, did not impress the scouts who were in the stands. He gave up six runs in just three-and-two-thirds innings on eight hits with four walks and three strikeouts. Gallardo’s record fell to 8-9. The Padres jumped out to a 6-1 lead after four innings. Milwaukee scored five times in the seventh inning to make the final score look respectable. Norichika Aoki, Carlos Gomez, and Yuniesky Betancourt all homered for the Crew, which had 13 hits on the day to San Diego’s 16. Aoki’s blast was his first since May 11th. Betancourt also had three singles while going 4 for 5. Gomez went 3 fo5. Carlos Quentin and Jesus Guzman homered for San Diego, which took three-of-four games in Milwaukee in a battle of divisional last-place teams. Edinson Volquez went five-and-a-third innings for the win. Huston Street pitched the ninth for his 18th save. The loss was Milwaukee’s third in its last eight games overall. Tonight, the Brewers will open a weekend series at Colorado. Right-hander Wily Peralta will start for the Crew against Rockies’ right-hander Tyler Chatwood. Pregame on WHBL begins at 7:05.
