SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) - A Plymouth truck driver was cited for causing a semi to tip over on an I-43 off ramp in Sheboygan Tuesday evening. Lieutenant Scott Mittelstadt of the Sheboygan Police Department said the incident took place around 5:46 p.m. on the northbound off ramp to Highway 23 westbound.
An investigation determined the 61 year old driver took the off ramp too fast, causing the unsecured load of approximately 40,000 pounds of cheese to shift and tip the entire rig. The driver suffered minor abrasions but needed no medical attention. Authorities cited the driver for traveling too fast and not securing the load.
The off ramp and one lane of Highway 23 westbound were closed for over five hours as responding crews cleaned up the scene.
