Bucks extend GM Hammond

Milwaukee Bucks General Manager John Hammond has been given a three year contract extension that will keep him in the front office through the 2015-16 season.  Hammond was hired in April of 2008.  He was named NBA Executive of the Year after the 2010 season when he put together his only playoff team in Milwaukee.  A mid-season trade for John Salmons helped the Bucks finish 46-36 on the year but they were knocked out in the first round by the Atlanta Hawks in 7 games.  Hammond and coach Scott Skiles reached a mutal agreement for Skiles to leave the team in December.  Jim Boylan has gone 6-2 as interim head coach since and the Bucks are 22-18 on the year, three games off the Central Division lead and in 7th place in the Eastern Conference.  Hammond will still have some big decisions looming with Brandon Jennings becomming a restricted free agent at the end of the season and fellow guard Monta Ellis approaching an option year.  The future of Boylan as coach also remains up in the air.  The Bucks return to action Friday night in Cleveland against the Cavaliers.
