MADISON, WI (WSAU) - Three northcentral Wisconsin communities were among 20 selected for a state downtown and urban commercial district revitalization program.
Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation chose Antigo, Crandon, and Mosinee for the Connect Communities Program. Brenda Hicks-Sorensen is their Vice President of Economic and Community Development. She says successful commercial districts don’t just happen, they need to be planned and nurtured to help them move forward.
Participating communities have committed to training and access to information technology. They will also share ideas with the others in the program. Connect Communities is an extension of WEDC’s Main Street Program targeting historic and economic redevelopment in business districts.
The complete list of communities selected to participate in Connect Communities are: Antigo, Berlin, Cambridge, Cashton, Chilton, Crandon, Deerfield, Edgerton, Greenwood, Hartford, Hartland, La Crosse, Menasha, Menomonee Falls, Menomonee, Mosinee, Plymouth, Pulaski, Sheboygan, and Superior.
