Badgers are cold as the weather

The Wisconsin Badgers must have left the Kohl Center doors open Tuesday night as they were as cold inside as it was outside in falling to 11th ranked Michigan State 49-47.  Wisconsin shot just 29.6% from the floor and made an unsightly seven of 18 free throws, squandering a chance to move back to the top of the Big Ten standings.   Keith Appling led the Spartans (17-3, 6-1) with 19 points, Brandon Dawson added 18 points and 13 rebounds.  Mike Bruesewitz led Wisconsin (13-6, 4-2) with 10 points.   Despite the dreadful shooting, the game was tight throughout but the Badgers made only one field goal over the final seven and a half minutes, a Ryan Evans three pointer.  Wisconsin missed their final five free throws down the stretch.  With a chance to tie the game with 3.4 seconds left, George Marshall missed the first and intentionally missed the second but the ball careened out of bounds and Michigan State held the ball to the horn.  Wisconsin will host Minnesota on Saturday.
