SHEBOYGAN, Wis.(WHBL) - The Sheboygan Police Department announced at a Tuesday press conference that they are launching a podcast program, called SPD Roll Call, to communicate between the department and the community. Chief Chris Domagalski says the program will be an effective way to communicate to the public a greater depth of information beyond the Nixle and Twitter alerts, and the opportunity to reach a wider audience. Domagalski said the information can help prevent crimes, protect the public, or simply increase awareness of police activities. He said the podcast alerts will be used for topics such as upcoming dangerous weather conditions, a temporary problem with a particular type of crime such as car break-ins, or even to announce a planned neighborhood meeting or clean-up day. The podcasts are delivered on the internet and can also be downloaded to portable audio players. The podcasts will be released monthly at sheboyganpolice dot com.
