The road to the Resch Center in Green Bay began for area high school girls basketball teams.  Opening night in the WIAA State tournament had the following results:

Elkhart Lake 65, Sheboygan Lutheran 62 (2OT); Howards Grove 51, Manawa 26; Kiel 51, Ripon 39; Gibralter 36, Kohler 22; Bonduel 28, Random Lake 34; Sheboygan South 59, Green Bay East 36; Denmark 38, New Holstein 21; Sheboygan Christian 48, Stockbridge 37; Cedar Grove-Belgum 2, Tenor 0 (forfeit).

The winners advance to Regional semifinal games on Friday night, working toward the state finals in Green Bay for the first time March 14-16.
